First Unitarian Church - Steeple Seismic Upgrade

First Unitarian Church - Steeple Seismic Upgrade

Scope of this intricate, complex project involved seismically upgrading a 100-year old masonry and wood-framed church steeple to withstand an earthquake. Innovative solutions such as installation of a temporary conveyor system during construction, installing shotcrete in lieu of poured-in-place concrete shear walls, and customizing steel members while inside of steeple area solved the logistical challenges presented to the team. A true testament to P&C’s craftsmanship was evidenced by fact that once all work was completed, there was no evidence that any of the original finishes or areas were even touched!
